Correction on the cause of the fire: The heating and plumbing guys were in the building today to check the furnaces out. One of the boilers had a mal-functioning valve, that caused gas to be discharged into the room constantly. Once in a while, it would ignite. This has been occurring for a while, apparently. So the real cause was a faulty valve--but of course storing "fuel" in the room did not help either. But the mats themselves did not cause the fire.

FIRST ON THE SCENE OF A FIRE!!

Dan went to church about 8:00, to this morning to take some food in for a funeral dinner later in the day. When he entered the kitchen, he saw wisps of smoke and smelled a burning smell like plastic, or an electrical fire. Upon investigation, he could not see any explanation for this in the kitchen. He called the school administrator (who lives across the street from the school) then returned to investigate some more. On the way, he passed the gym. He noticed that the pass through window between the gym and kitchen was open, so he turned on the light in the gym--and saw massive amounts of smoke! He called 9-1-1 and they told him to leave the building. Outside, he could see smoke, too, so circled around until he saw flames in the window of the furnace room.

Apparently, there were some rolls of plastic mats stacked too close to the window vent in the furnace room, a furnace went out for lack of air, when gas built up and ignited from other boilers, the mats caught fire. It must have all happened shortly before Dan showed up--the firemen put the fire out with a fire extinguisher. There was no serious damage, but the "what ifs" are causing us to think. We praise God for His hand of protection on our church & school.

SNOW DAY!! No School today, and it is a short week anyway (Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, no school on Friday). So we get to sleep in (if you don't count the half hour I spent calling TV and Radio stations, starting at 5:30). We can get caught up on grading and class prep. I think I will be working on Mission Conference schedules--I was wondering when I would have time for that! And the snow is BEAUTIFUL!! Thank You God! (And the old pink trailer up the street DOES add some needed color to the neighborhood!)

55%--Not bad--not half bad. Mrs. Clinton received a 45 percent "no confidence" vote. I had hoped she would receive less than 60% of the vote on a ballot where she was essentially the only candidate available. Mission accomplished.

I DID IT!!

1--declare yourself Democrat.

2--vote uncommitted.

That's it--join the long established tradition of voting "crossover". How do you think the true Democrats will vote today??

MICHIGAN IS NEXT--here's a thought.

Michigan's primary is an "open" primary. You can vote for either party by simply asking for the party ballot at the polling place on the day of the election (January 15).
On the Republican side, you can decide who to vote FOR (and I have offered some reasonable choices here).

On the Democratic side, you can easily vote AGAINST.
As Clinton is the only one on the ballot, to vote against, vote UNDECIDED. Should UNDECIDED win a significant number of votes--say in the 40% range or higher, it would send a clear message. Just a thought. Worth consideration.

There are plenty of other states to decide who Will. Somebody must choose who Will Not.
