The "new" piano was installed today! Thanks to my students Timothy, Travis, Tyler and Joseph (and a neighbor's truck). And the soundboard of the old one is on the curb. I suspect it will be taken by scrappers by this time tomorrow. This Summer we will paint the piano--black?

In with the new, and out with the old. The annual flood in upon us--smaller than many years because the thaw was not accompanied with rain. Here are a few shots of the dam area.

Tomorrow, we will be getting a hand-me-down piano, so yesterday I began tearing apart the old one--finished tonight. This is the heaviest piano I have ever dealt with, the sound board alone must be 300 pounds. When 8 of us struggled to put it in the house in 1987, I vowed never to move it again in one piece. So now it is torn apart and taken to the curb. When my helpers move in the "new" piano tomorrow, I will get them to move out the old soundboard--which weighs only slightly less than the entire new one!
