Here is our family. We were able to go to Pennsylvania to visit Nath & Lissa. We really enjoyed our short time with them in their apartment and savoring the locally produced goodies during the town "Chocolate Walk". MmmmmMmmmm! Jenny, Michael and Aaron now have a new roof on their house, installed while we were away. And there is a sound roof on their garage, too! More storage area! We returned to a very hectic schedule for the remainder of the month, but our time away was refreshing. We praise God for our children and their wonderful spouses!

How cool is this? The opportunity to carefully examine an National Historic Landmark in detail--even being allowed to spend the night there with nobody looking over your sholder? Dan just got back from doing just that. He took his US History class to Muskegon to spend the night aboard the World War 2 submarine Silversides. The Silversides was the third ranking sub in tonnage sunk and the only top ranking ship to remain. Known as the "lucky ship" because of having only one fatality in all it's wartime missions. Also a Pharmacist Mate performed an appendectomy using home-made tools and while consulting an anatomy book--and the patient lived! We sat at that very table where the opperation was performed. Awesome experience!

As we live our lives, we too often get caught up with the immediate requirements--going to work, buying groceries, or mowing the lawn. We often take for granted the people closest to us, or the people we have never met who are responsible for our existance. I recently dug out some pictures of two of my ancestors--James and Elisa Clothier. They immigrated from England over 100 years ago, moved to Canada, then the U.S. Here they suffered through the loss of two of their children in infancy, two extremely destructive state-wide fires yet still expressed their confidence in the Lord and His loving sovereignty. Amazing. I offer their portraits as a tribute to the sovereign hand of God.
