As we live our lives, we too often get caught up with the immediate requirements--going to work, buying groceries, or mowing the lawn. We often take for granted the people closest to us, or the people we have never met who are responsible for our existance. I recently dug out some pictures of two of my ancestors--James and Elisa Clothier. They immigrated from England over 100 years ago, moved to Canada, then the U.S. Here they suffered through the loss of two of their children in infancy, two extremely destructive state-wide fires yet still expressed their confidence in the Lord and His loving sovereignty. Amazing. I offer their portraits as a tribute to the sovereign hand of God.
