How cool is this? The opportunity to carefully examine an National Historic Landmark in detail--even being allowed to spend the night there with nobody looking over your sholder? Dan just got back from doing just that. He took his US History class to Muskegon to spend the night aboard the World War 2 submarine Silversides. The Silversides was the third ranking sub in tonnage sunk and the only top ranking ship to remain. Known as the "lucky ship" because of having only one fatality in all it's wartime missions. Also a Pharmacist Mate performed an appendectomy using home-made tools and while consulting an anatomy book--and the patient lived! We sat at that very table where the opperation was performed. Awesome experience!
