HEY! Does anyone want some free straw?
A week after it was palnted, the grass is up sufficiently to rake off the straw--and at least from a distance, the lawn looks green!

Comments:
How exciting.
If no one takes your straw you can put it in pile, and it will turn into compost.
If you want it to compost quickly put it in a black plastic garbage bag and poke holes in the bag. Put the bag in a place that you don't see it and next spring it should turn into nice compost for your landscape beds.
Or if you have plants that seem to struggle with snow damage put the straw around the base of the plant or cover the plant for frost protection.

Oh by the way the lawn looks great.
We will have to re do our lawn some day but it won't happen for a very long time.
