The annual Michigan Association of Christian Schools teacher's convention was held yesterday and today. It was a great time of encouragement, training, challenge and renewing. I think it was one of the better conferences of recent years. Afterwards, we went as a staff to a steak house for lunch. Pictured are Mike & Jeanie Reece, our good friends and school administrators, with Pastor and Mrs. Dan Dickerson(with her back to the camera), enjoying some fellowship.
The other shot is of Cheryl and I enjoying our lunch yesterday. They ran out of lunches on-site, so we rushed out to find some food. We had only a half hour before the next session, so when we saw this small local convenience store, we stopped an got some bread, ham, cheese and cookies. Across the street from there was a cemetery--the perfect place for a quiet, uninterrupted picnic in the shade! We have always liked exploring cemeteries--but had no time for that then.

Comments:
We have something in common. We like exploring old cemeteries also. We found one in St. Ignace.

Old cemetaries are fun. Dale and I were in the Plymouth area a few years ago and had a spare morning. So we stopped in to the Newburgh Cemetary where my dad's parents and my infant sister Kathleen are buried. I had visited this place many times as a kids and remembered in my mind where the graves were...but the entrance had changed and we ended up searching the entire cemetary until we finally found Margaret Jane and Albert Willsie and Kathleen Alice's tiny graves way over by the 'new' apartment buildings nextdoor.. By then, the early morning dew had SOAKED our shoes and we ended up stopping into KMart to pick up a couple of cheap pairs to wear for the rest of the day. There are some REALLY old graves in there...even Revolutionary War! Here is a link to a partial listing of the old gravemarks. If you haven't been, and are ever in the area, it is NEAT!
