Today is June 6--The day to remember D-Day, 1943. On that day, thousands of allied soldiers stormed the beaches of Normandy in an attempt to crack "Fortress Europe", liberate France from Nazi oppression , and begin the destruction of Hitler's empire. But on that day, individual soldiers were mostly just trying to survive. They did not know the outcome of their heroic actions. For their diligence and heroic response to Duty, we are grateful. There is a tendency to Deify causes, nations and people. Let us remember the sacrifices of the D-Day participants, without that deification. Sincere thankfulness is enough.
