The day before Nate & Lissa's wedding, we moved a truck load of things to the garden, Cheryl worked on affixing the comb to Lissa'a veil that Jenny made and sent this week. But the BIG event was rehearsal and Rehearsal Brunch--the first time everybody got to sit around and talk (since most arrived between midnight and 6:30 AM! Friends from accross the country, PA, WV, CA, AZ, MI, and of course OR. A wonderful day!

Oregon is fantastic--but a little cooler (temperature) than I'm used to in Michigan. Cheryl and I are staying with Eric & Shelley Stuewe, and they have been fantastic hosts. We spent the weekend in Lincoln City, on the pacific coast. We rented a cottage from a Steuwe relative--the same house where Nate & Lissa will stay on their honeymoon. It was a great no-pressure time of getting to know each other. On Sunday, the "kids" got Eric and I each a two string kite--it was a blast flying a kite on the beach with the waves crashing beside us. It is so great to know how similar our two families are, and the values we have tried to instill in our children. What a blessing from God! And Lissa is an answer to our prayers for Nathan.

We have never been this far west before, but we will soon be seeing the Pacific Ocean! The trip west by two seperate routes was not too much fun, but Cheryl and I managed to both leave Detroit on seperate planes, and ultimately arrived in Portland within a half-hour of each other. Dan got the "sprinting through airports" award (Detroit and Seattle).
